Where’s the cheapest Halbe?
Munich Prices shows you on a map what a Halbe, an Aperol Spritz or a pair of Weißwürste really cost around the corner. Every price comes from a real menu or from someone who was there.

How it works
The map shows you what it costs around the corner
- Step 1 of 3
Open the map, pick a Halbe
Choose what you fancy at the top. The map shows the price at every place, green is cheap and red is pricey compared with the rest of the city.

- Step 2 of 3
Same for Aperol
Tap Aperol Spritz and the map shows what a glass costs where. With “Open now” you only see places that are open right now.

- Step 3 of 3
Or simply as a list
The list puts the cheapest places near you at the top, with the distance and when the price was last confirmed. Above it you see the median for all of Munich.

Every price is checked
Every price has a source
I copied the first prices from the pubs’ own menus myself, each with a link and a date. You see that in the app right below the price.
New prices are added by people in Munich. A price only becomes visible to everyone once I’ve looked at it. Deals like two Weißwürste with a pretzel are marked as deals, so nobody walks into a pub expecting the wrong thing.
- Source and date with every price
- New prices only after approval
- Anyone can tap “That’s right” to show a price still holds

Spotted a price? Then add it
You’re in the beer garden and the Halbe costs something different from what the app says? Tap “Add price”, type the amount or snap the menu and the app reads the prices for you. If you’re standing in the place, your entry counts twice as much as one from the sofa.
You don’t need an account for that, being signed in to iCloud on your iPhone is enough.

The cheap Halbe on your wrist
I’m working on the watch app right now. There’s no map on it, instead you turn the crown to switch between a Halbe, an Aperol and the rest. Right below you see the cheapest places nearby, with the price and how far it is.
Tap it and you get the full list, sorted by price, by distance or showing only what’s open right now.
This is how it’s meant to look, and the prices in the pictures are real. It isn’t finished yet though, and I’d rather not promise a date.

Blue or red
What colour is Munich to you?
Everyone in Munich has an opinion on this anyway, so the app simply asks you. Pick blue or red and the colours change across the whole app, even the icon on your home screen. Try it here, the page plays along.
The price colours stay as they are, by the way, cheap is always green

Every dot is a place within the city. Tap or slide your finger across, on a computer the mouse and arrow keys work too. Dots with a light centre come from the app.
Only prices within the city count, and there’s a median from five prices up. The app shows another 20 prices from the surrounding area on the map, they don’t count here. Weißwurst deals that include a pretzel are listed separately on the Weißwurst page.

From Paul
Servus, I’m Paul
I wanted to know which pub around the corner still serves a Halbe for under five euros, without opening five menus online first. So I started collecting the prices, and now anyone in Munich can help.
I build Munich Prices in my spare time, as a private person with no company behind it. If a price looks odd to you, write to me and I’ll check.
Questions
What people often ask
When is the app out, and what does it cost?
Soon. Friends are still trying it out before it goes to the App Store. It’s free, with no ads and no in-app purchases. If you’d like a heads-up, just send me an email.
Where do the prices come from?
I collected the first prices from the menus that pubs and restaurants put on their websites, checked one by one and each with its source. After that they come from people in Munich who are standing in the beer garden, at the butcher’s or at the döner shop and add the price or snap the menu.
How does a new price get on the map?
Every new price first lands in a queue nobody else sees, and I go through it myself. A photo of the menu or the sign makes that quickest. Only then can everyone see it, and since anyone can later tap “That’s right” or add a newer price, an outdated one gets spotted quickly.
Do I need an account?
No. You don’t need anything to look things up. If you add prices yourself, the app shares them via iCloud, so being signed in to iCloud on your iPhone is enough. No email address and no real name needed.
What happens to my data?
The app has no tracking, no ads and no analytics, and your location stays on your iPhone. On this website we only count how often each page is opened, without cookies and without recognising you. The details are in the privacy policy.
